I want to introduce you to a spiritual concept that has profoundly impacted my life.

Any time you are yearning for something, declaring a new goal, or charging toward a very specific outcome, I want to invite you to pause, state clearly what you desire, and then add this simple phrase at the end:

This or better.

Those three words change everything.

When we become overly attached to one specific outcome, we often limit what is actually available to us. We fixate on one path, one possibility, one form, and in doing so, we can unknowingly close ourselves off to something even more aligned, more expansive, or more magical than what we originally imagined.

There are a few things worth remembering here.

First, you cannot always see the greater possibilities that exist for you. There may be outcomes far better than the one you are clinging to, but if you are only willing to receive in one exact form, you may miss them altogether.

Second, there are an infinite number of ways for what you want to come to you. If you are only open to one route, one timeline, or one outcome, that attachment itself can create delay.

And third, sometimes what we think we want is not actually what is best for us. Sometimes we are being redirected. Sometimes we are being protected. Sometimes the thing we are pushing so hard for would bring more pain than peace.

When you say this or better, you still honor the desire. You are not giving up on what you want. You are simply leaving room for divine intelligence to move. You are opening the door to a better outcome, a better path, or a better way for it to arrive.

I often hear people say they want to win the lottery. But what they are really asking for is financial freedom. Fixating on the lottery alone limits all the other ways abundance could come. They could create it. Receive it through business. Be led to an opportunity. Experience it through a way they never could have predicted.

Everything in life, including our desires, holds lessons, invitations, and opportunities to expand our consciousness. When we begin to approach our desires not just as goals, but as spiritual opportunities, life becomes lighter. More joyful. And in my experience, manifestation becomes far more effortless.

I am always open to this or better, and my life is full of miracles because of it.

This week, I hit a point of real frustration around not yet finding a home in Montana, especially because our move is only a week away. I paused, went into meditation, sat in silence, and said a simple prayer.

I asked God to bring us something magical. Something unexpected. Something we would be deeply excited about. I was envisioning a house suddenly becoming available to rent or buy, something we had not yet seen, something that felt like exactly what we had been waiting for.

And of course, I ended the prayer with:
This or better.

Then I let it go.

The very next day, Anniston went to lunch with dear friends of ours. During lunch, they asked whether we had found a place yet. When she shared that we still had not found anything suitable, they spent the next hour convincing us to take their brand new 36-foot, six-person RV across the country for a road trip.

Magical.

It was completely unexpected. Not something we had really put energy into. Not something I could have predicted. And yes, we are very, very excited.

That is the beauty of this or better.

Sometimes the miracle does not arrive in the package you expected. Sometimes it arrives in a way your mind could never have manufactured, but your soul immediately recognizes as perfect.

So let me ask you:

Are you open to receiving the magic?

Not just in the form you imagined, but in the form that might be even better than you could have dreamed up yourself.
